Opinions on who should win the Tewaaraton?

Finalists:

Peter Baum, Colgate

CJ Costabile, Duke

Will Manny, UMass

Mike Sawyer, Loyola

Steele Stanwick, Virginia

Just my opinion: First off, Baum is legit. He just won the Enners Award Winner that goes to the most outstanding player of the year in NCAA Division I men’s lacrosse. Finished with 97 points. And he’s from Oregon (West Coast Represent!) but again, in my opinion, Steele Stanwick is the best player in the country. He just won the Turnbull Award as Nation’s Attackman of the Year and became UVA’s leading points leader with 269 career points, and tied for No. 18 all-time in NCAA Division I history. I know Colgate had a pretty high RPI but 97 points in the Patriot league doesn’t compare to points in the ACC.  It’s hard to compare because they had different roles for their team. Steele led the country for most assists with 51, his role has always been more of the quarterback. even look at UVA’s roster, Chris Bocklet’s the scorer, Colin Briggs, and Rob Emery, Colgate’s roster isn’t as stacked and they heavily relied on Baum alone. UVA lost in the quarterfinals and the Tewaaraton takes into account the post-season performance a lot so it will probably come down to Mike Sawyer and CJ Costabile. Who remembers the 2010 Championship? Costabile won the face-off against Notre Dame in overtime and went straight to the goal and scored to give Duke the National Championship…but I guess that was two years ago. That saying, CJ Costabile does so much for Duke and got them to the semi-final. Mike Sawyer will play in the final on Monday but has kind of been on the back burner since Lusby’s been on fire and Ratcliff gets a lot of attention too. Anyways, my top two-Steele and Baum. I definitely don’t want to be on the committee that chooses.

Taylor Thornton for the Tewaaraton

I know the final is on Sunday, but for real though, she’s one of the top collegiate athletes (in any sport) in the country

I found this awhile back but I forgot where. If anyone can tell me, I’ll gladly edit the source. Thanks.

It would be selfish of us to say anything other than thank you for the past 4-5 years. Thanks boys and good luck in the future!
